Dominique C Gallery at Pont-Aven, in South-Brittany: a New Exhibition with the Artist BOCO

A new exhibition at the Dominique C gallery, at Pont-Aven, in south-brittany.

Boco: born Place Royale in Nantes February 6, 1945.

Self-taught painter, studied architecture, worked many years in this environment, travels all along the Brittany coasts, the Gulf of Morbihan.

In the late sixties, he lived in Belle Ile en Mer, he built houses and Brittany brings his first drawings and sketches.

He bases his work on the memory and especially on the imagination to build its own landscapes. The overseas the only blue that he uses is declining throughout its range, at the root of all his works.

Britanny-Japan 2012 at the Museum Yvonne Jean-Haffen-Maison d’Artiste de la Grande Vigne de Dinan: Exhibition “Japan in the Correspondence of Mathurin Méheut” from May 16 to September 30

Méheut Mathurin (1882-1957), artist from Lamballe, attracted by Japanese prints in 1914 has a travel grant for staying close to 4 months in Japan.

Immobilizes in 1927, Mathurin Méheut then illustrates his correspondence with the artist Yvonne Jean-Haffen (1895-1993) sketches recalling his memories of Japan. True to his interests, he sketched scenes of daily life but also the Japanese temples. Continue reading →

The Festival of Brittany brings together under one banner proximity animations, carrying generosity, creativity, dynamism.

Positive Balance of Jobs in Brittany, in 2011

According to Brittany’s regional daily press May 10, 2012 ,Brittany has continued to create enough jobs to compensate the offset losses.

With 3,414 jobs created in 2011 (representing 0.48% of its workforce), Brittany goes into sixth position of the most creative job, after Ile-de-France, Pays de la Loire. .. Note also that the best performing regions in services and industry are located in the West.

Conversely, the eastern regions (with the exception of Nord-Pas de Calais) are the ones that created fewer jobs from their workforce, according to the third annual survey conducted by the FIE firm (France industry employment).

The food in the sentence: In contrast, Britanny is also among the five regions that have suffered the most job losses: 2,019 jobs, exactly, have been removed in 2011, representing 0.28% of the workforce.

Hervé GLOAGUEN was born in Rennes in 1937. His father is a pharmacist in Hédé , near Rennes. The idea of following the path of his father did not really seems exciting to him , and he chooses to assert his idendity alone, away from Britanny, where he will come back occasionally. He joined the photography school in the Rue de Vaugirard in Paris, but was soon fired (he had never touched a camera), then he haunts the taverns where jazz musicians were his models until 1960, “as happy as a devil in holy water.” Continue reading →

Brittany-Japan 2012: The Japanese Art in the Collections of the Museum of Brest, until june 15

Until June 15, 2012, the Museum of Fine Arts in Brest presents through this first exhibition brings together a broad background of Japanese objects of various origins. It is indeed since the nineteenth century that the great sailors like Admiral Jean-Baptiste Cécille reported in France, particularly in Britanny, witnesses objects of the Japanese everyday time .

In Brittany, the International Maritime Festivals of Brest, from July 13 to July 19, 2012

Brittany-Japan 2012: Gyotaku, the Art of Footprints. An Exhibition at the Museum of fishing at Concarneau, in South-Brittany, until September 30, 2012

Capturing the soul of fishes: A legend is the origin of the creation of Gyotakus. The story takes place in 1862, the Lord Sakai, busy fishing with his samurai, goes back a bream. This fish symbolizes happiness for Japanese.

This greatly impressed bream the lord and his band. If the emperor was present, Lord Sakai had offered him this far, yet the scene is several hundred kilometers from the capital.

One of the warriors had the idea to capture the beauty and soul of the fish to share this award with the Mikado. To do so, he smeared with black ink the bream and took his reversed fingerprints, on washi paper. Continue reading →
